Nationals Day 1 2/11
The 2004 Spring Nationals kicked of with the 800M freestyle Tuesday
night with a few great swims by NBAC's distance swimmers. Claire
Hutchinson placed 11th overall with
an 8:49.28 time and an Olympic Trial cut. Ellen
Brooks placed
24th with an 8:57.13. Katelyn
Lanphier placed
26th with an 8:58.01 time. For the men, Corey
Knopp placed 12
with an 8:22.79 and Summer National Cut, and Nico
Zebley
placed 24th with a 8:26.84.

Nationals Day 2 2/12
Day Two was another day of good swims for NBAC. Michael
Phelps
won two events, the 100 Freestyle (49.05) and 200 Backstoke(1:55.30).
He just missed the World Record in 200 Backstoke by .15 seconds,
swimming the second fastest time in history in that event. Kevin
Clements (2:15.04)
and Jamie
Barone (2:17.84)
finished two-five in 200 Breast. Courtney
Kalisz
finished
10th in 200 Butterfly (2:14.68); Emily Goetsch was 15th in 200
Butterfly (2:16.77); and Katie
Hoff
was 11th in 200 Breaststroke (2:33.42).

Spring Nationals Day 3 2/12
NBAC GOES THREE-FOR-FOUR
The third night of Nationals saw three first place victories by NBAC. Michael Phelps kicked it off with a first place in the 200M
Free (1:46.47) with an Olympic Trial Cut, while Marianne Limpert placed 18th (2:03.88) with a Summer National Cut. Katie Hoff also won a first place in the women's 400M IM (4:42.32) and Courtney Kalisz placed 18th (4:53.79), both with Olympic Trial Cuts. Kevin Clements won the men's race with an 4:53.79 Olympic Trial Cut time.

Spring Nationals Day 4 2/14
On day four, Michael Phelps picked up another win, this time going 51.84 in the 100M Butterfly, earning him a U.S. Open cut. There were a few close compititions between NBAC swimmers. Ellen Brooks (4:21.55) and Claire Hutchinson
(4:23.07) placed 18th and 22nd in the women's 400M Freestyle. In the 100M Breast, Keven Clements (1:03.11) and Jamie Barone (1:03.19) went 4-5, both with Olympic Trial Cuts. Emily Goetsch (1:01.53) and Katie Hoff (1:01.65) went 13-14 in the 100 Fly with Olympic Trial Cuts. NBAC's women placed 2nd in the 800 Meter Free Relay. The team of Katie Hoff, Emily
Goetsch, Meghan Sackett and Marianne Limpert
went 8:18.51 with a Summer National Relay Cut. On the men's side,
Michael Phelps, Kevin Clements, Nico
Zebley, and Corey Knopp placed third in the 800 Relay with a time of 7:32.52, also with a Summer National Cut. Heading into the 5th and last day, both men's and women's teams are 2nd place in the overall scoring.

times both made Olympic Trial Cuts. In the Women's

Limpert came in eight (2:18.65) in the A
finals, both earning Olympic Trial Cuts. In the 1500M
Free, Claire Hutchinson
placed 8th (16:50.74), Katelyn
Lanphier placed 19th (17:04.51) in finals
next to Ellen Brooks who
took 20th with 17:06.58. For the men's
1500, Corey Knopp placed
13th (15:56.61) and Nico
Zebley placed 26th (16:05.66). All five
distance swimmers earned Summer National Cuts. In
the 50
Free, Michele King earned
a Summer Nats. Cut with a 20th place 26.55. The 400M
Medley Relay concluded the meet with NBAC's
girls team of Courtney
Kalisz, Katie Hoff, Emily Goetsch, and Marianne
Limpert placed
5th with a Summer Nats. Cut time of 4:16.86. The
men's 800M
Medley Relay of Kevin
Clements, Jamie Barone, Michael Phelps and Coret
Knopp placed 4th with a Summer Nats. Cut
time of 3:47.87. The final scoring through 33 events
put both the NBAC Men's and Women's teams at 2nd
place behind the Longhorn Aquatics teams.
