Emily Goetsch
“The grand essentials of happiness are:  something to do, something to love and something to hope for.”

Senior, Emily Goetsch, started swimming at North Baltimore Aquatic Club when she was 14 years of age, a ninth grade student in high school.  While at NBAC, Emily was coached by Tom Himes, for approximately a month. Currently, Emily is being coach by Bob Bowman. Reflecting on the sport of swimming, Emily feels that it has “given her focus and a chance to develop athletically and mentally.  Most importantly, however, the people I have met through swimming have had the greatest impact on my teenage years.”

As a 2003 graduate of Roland Park County School, Emily will be a rising freshman at the University of Southern California but will not begin college during the fall of 2003. Emily will continue to train at Meadowbrook in preparation for the 2004 Olympic Trails. NBAC wishes Emily Goetsch much success!   

Kristin Danielle Newman
“Reach for the moon.  Even if you miss you will land among the stars.”

Senior, Kristin Newman, started swimming at North Baltimore Aquatic Club when she was 12 years of age, a seventh grade student in middle school.  While at NBAC, Kristin was coached by Tom Himes, Murray Stephens, Bob Bowman and Paul Yetter. Currently, Kristin is being coach by Dan. Reflecting on the sport of swimming, Kristin feels that it has “taught me dedication and time management.”

As a 2003 graduate from Howard High School in Howard County Public Schools, Kristin will be a rising freshman at Wingate University, North Carolina. NBAC wishes Kristin Newman much success as she pursues the next level of swimming, collegiate swimming.

   

Michael F. Phelps II
“Actions speak louder than words.”

Senior, Michael Phelps, started swimming at North Baltimore Aquatic Club when he was 7 years of age, a second grade student in elementary school.  While at NBAC, Michael was coached by Cathy Lears, Patty Stephens, and Tom Himes.  Currently, Michael is being coach by Bob Bowman.   Reflecting on the sport of swimming, Michael feels that it has “helped to build my character and has made me a very responsible and strong  individual.”

As a 2003 graduate from Towson High School, Baltimore County Public Schools, Michael will be a rising freshman at Loyola College, Baltimore, Maryland.  NBAC wishes Michael Phelps much success as he continues training with NBAC for the 2004 Olympic Trails.  Due to his professional status, he will not be swimming at the collegiate level.

 

Mary Patricia Rawlick
“Do not wish to be anything but what you are, and try to be that perfectly.”

Senior, Patty Rawlick, started swimming at North Baltimore Aquatic Club when she was 15 years of age, a sophomore in high school.  While at NBAC, Patty was coached by Tom Himes and Paul Yetter.  Reflecting on the sport of swimming Patty feels that is has “given her dedication, drive and desire.  It has allowed me to form incredible friendships and unbreakable bonds between my teammates and coaches. Through swimming, I have learned to manage my time effectively and to successfully reach my goals.” 

As a 2003 graduate from C. Milton Wright High School, Harford County Public Schools, Patty will be a rising freshman at James Madison University.  NBAC wishes Patty Rawlick much success as she pursues the next level of swimming, collegiate swimming.

 

Megan Riley
“What I want is what I’ve not got, but what I need is all around me.” Celebrate. . .we will because life is short, but sweet for certain.”

Senior, Megan Riley started swimming at North Baltimore Aquatic Club when she was 7 years of age, a second grade student in elementary school.  While at NBAC, Megan was coached by Julie Gorman, Keith Schertle, and Tom Himes.  Her current coach is Bob Bowman.  Reflecting on the sport of swimming Megan feels that it has “taught me innumerable life lessons.  Through swimming I’ve realized what hard work, dedication and persistence truly are and what it means to push myself both mentally and physically.  Without my swimming friends, I wouldn’t have made it through high school.” 

As a 2003 graduate from Towson High School in Baltimore County Public Schools, Megan will be a rising freshman at the University of Richmond. NBAC wishes Megan Riley much success as she pursues the next level of swimming, collegiate swimming.
