John began
working with Murray Stephens and the Loyola
Blakefield swim team in 1980, while in
school at Loyola. He assisted Murray with
the Loyola team and the NBAC Senior level
group until 1984. He graduated from Loyola
College with a B.A. in English Literature in
1986. John coached summer league at Roland
Run Swim Club for five years from 1983-1987
winning their division championship in 1987.
John also was the head coach of the Varsity
and Junior Varsity swim teams at Archbishop Curley High
School, where he taught for 8 years, from 1986-1990, winning two league
championships and one meet championship. In
1990, John returned to NBAC as Senior
Assistant Coach and was Loyola’s JV coach
for four years. Currently, John coaches the
NBAC Masters team and serves as an assistant
coach for the Baltimore site. John is also
the general manager at Meadowbrook. He
coached the Meadowbrook Tomatoes in the
Central Maryland Swim League in 2005 & 6. John
coordinates and publishes the meet books for NBAC meets, runs the advertising campaign
for the Christmas Meet book and oversees the
Christmas Tree Sale as well as other
administrative duties for the club. John
married in 1989, and he and his wife Connie
have five children, two of whom swim for
NBAC.
