Beverly Hills, Calif. - Michael Phelps (Baltimore, Md.) and Katie Hoff (Towson, Md.) took home top honors tonight at the USA Swimming Foundation’s Golden Goggle Awards, as the two Maryland natives were named Male and Female Athlete of the Year.

USA Swimming announces the 2006-2007 Scholastic All-American Team. The Scholastic All-American Team is comprised of high school student-athletes, who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and have competed in an individual event in the 2006 Open Water National Championships, 2006 Summer Speedo Championships Series (summer sectionals), 2006 ConocoPhillips Nationals, 2006 U.S. Open, 2007 Speedo Champions Series (spring sectionals), and 2007 Spring Championships. The award is based on a point system for grades and competition.

Dan Madwed Wins Bronze in 200 Butterfly, Gold and Silver in Relays Dan Madwed, swimming in the World University games in Bangkok, Thailand, finished with a 1:57.16 in the Men's 200 Meter Butterfly. This time is a best time for Dan and is the 5th fastest American time this year.

Lauren Kasoff Golden at 2007 Maccabi Games; Alex Elias takes silver & bronze, both swimmers record best times Competing in the first day of swimming events at the Orange County Maccai Games in California, Lauren Kasofff struck gold in the 15-16 Girls 500 Yard Free dropping 6 seconds off her previous best time. Lauren also swam a best time in 100 Butterfly, finishing with a silver medal in that event. In the Men's events, Alex Elias took more than seven seconds off to place second in the 200 Yard Breaststroke. Alex also swam to a Bronze medal in the 100 Butterfly, also a best time and he tied for seventh in 50 Yard Free, also with a best time.

Bay
Marathon
Swim on

21. Four

swimmers

teams
finished
the swim
of the
entire
24 mile
length
of Tampa
Bay. The

has been

every
year

1998 in
celebration
of Earth
Day and
the
revitalization
of
Florida's
largest

the 400M IM and 200M
IM and second in the
200M Free. Madwed placed 3rd in
the 200M Fly. Phelps also
participated in the
meet, and won events
we do not normally

Hoff Eclipsed the 7
year old mark of
4:33.59 by almost a
second. Clocking in at
4:32.89, she
finished over seven
seconds ahead of her
competitors. Phelps also earned
his seventh gold
medal in the 400M IM
shattering the World
Record by over two
seconds. However, missed the
chance for an eighth
medal after the
Men's Medley Relay DQ's in Prelims.
Spring Championships

Going into finals on
Saturday evening,
NBAC was in the lead
for combined first
place by 30 points.
Swimmers Sean Roddy,
Elizabeth Pelton,
Andrea Staub,
Richard Hills,
Austin Surhoff,
Courtney Kalisz, and
Felicia Lee all swam
the 200M IM; Roddy
swimming a best time
by 3 seconds, Lee
and Surhoff with a
12th place seed,
and Kalisz with a
5th place seed. Both the men's and
women's 400M Medley
Relays were
scheduled for the
evening session
also.
Between sessions,
Alison Barnes swam
the 1500M Free,
Brennan Morris and
Ian Rowe swam the
800M Free. Rowe placed 8th,
earning an
additional
evening final swim
for NBAC.
During finals Kalisz
placed 7th, Lee
placed 10th in the
200M IM. Austin Surhoff
qualified for his
first Olympic Trial
cut, and earned
himself a stop on
the National Junior
Team with his 9th
place swim of
2:06.91.
The men's final 800M
Free ended in an 8th
place finish for
Morris, and 9th for
Rowe. The
girls team won the
400M Medley Relay,
and the men's team
finished 9th.
The final scores of
the meet were NBAC

242, and Sun Devil
210. "It was
an outstanding met," Coach Paul says. We have two new
Olympic Trials
qualifiers [Surhoff
