NBAC at the Federal Way, WA US Open 12/5
NBAC Harford newcomer Katie Hoff was the team star at the US Open in Federal Way, Washington this weekend. Hoff placed broke the 13-14 200M IM NAG record placing second with a 2:16.26. Total, she earned 3 Olympic Trial cuts including a second place in the 400M IM (4:45.82) and an 8th place 200M Breast (2:33.79). NBAC Harford's Courtney Kalisz also earned an Olympic Trial cut placing 10th in the 200M Fly with a time of 2:13.87.

A number of Spring National cuts were made including Claire Hutchinson's 400 & 800M Free, Courtney Francik's 200M Back, Ellen Brooks' 800M Free and  Meghan Sackett's 800M Free. Relay cuts included the 800M Free Relay by Dunnigan, Jackie Gonzalez, Hutchinson and Francik, and the 400M Medley Relay by Botek, Peloquin, Knapik and Francik.

Katie Hoff Breaks 13-14 200m IM NAG Record at US Open 12/5
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – With America’s top swimmers beginning to focus in on next summer’s Olympic Trials and beyond, the U.S. Open kicked off Thursday at the King County Aquatic Center as the perfect stage for these athletes to gauge their progress against some very solid competition.

And not even a short power outage at the start of the women’s 200m IM final could keep Katie Hoff from taking advantage of the opportunity.

NBAC Harford at the Fall Festival 11/10
The North Baltimore Aquatic Club had an outstanding showing at the Fall Festival USA Swim Meet on the weekend of November 7-9th at UMBC. Seven swimmers from Harford County won 26 events over the three day meet. Harford swimmers also swam to three first and second place finishes, as well as one first, second, and third place finish.

NBAC's next major competition is the US OPEN Swimming Championships held in Federal Way, WA on December 4-6. This is a very prestigious meet with National-level qualifying times, and is attended by Olympians and Olympic hopefuls each December. Representing Harford County this year will be: Jackie Gonzalez, Katie Hoff, and Courtney Kalisz.

2003 All-America Teams Announced 9/29
USA Swimming has announced its men and women’s 2003 All-America Team. The All-America Team is comprised of swimmers who equaled or bettered the faster of the eighth place times from either the Spring or Summer 2002 ConocoPhillips National Championships while competing in the Spring or Summer 2003 ConocoPhillips National Championships.

NBAC All-American swimmers include: Michael Phelps, Keven Clements, Jamie Barone, Claire Hutchinson, Meghan Sackett, Ellen Brooks, Katie Hoff and Emily Goetsch.

Jill Schneehagen: NBAC Scholastic All-American 9/29
NBAC swimmers Claire Hutchinson, Ellen Brooks and Jill Schneehagen were 3 of over 700 swimmers named to the 2002-03 Scholastic All-America Team for combining athletic and academic success. Swimmers had to achieve at least a 3.50 GPA as a high school sophomore, junior or senior and competed in an individual event at one of the following meets: 2002 ConocoPhillips Summer Nationals, 2002 Summer Speedo Champions Series (sectionals), 2002 U.S. Open, 2003 ConocoPhillips Spring Nationals, 2003 Spring Speedo Champions Series (sectionals), 2002 National Disability Championships or 2002 Open Water National Championships.

USA Swimming has released its 2002-03 Top 16 Preview lists. Lists for both short course yards and long course meters have been compiled from a database of the fastest times around the country and can be found here.

NBAC Harford Sectional Report 7/31
NBAC's Harford County swimmers faired well at the Eastern Zone Championships last weekend at UMBC. NBAC placed 3rd overall in the team competition.

Jackie Gonzalez led the way for the Harford county site with a victory in the 400 IM.  Jackie also finaled in the 200 Back and the 200 IM. 

Jackie's 400IM and 200 Back times were top 16 reportable, as well as Allison Barnes' 400 Free and Kevin Spath's 200 Breast.

NBAC Breaks 4 State and Team Records at the North Baltimore Long Course Invitational
Michael Phelps broke 2 State records at the June Meet. In the 100 Backstroke he clocked a time of 56.51 which broke the State Record for the 17-18 Age Group as well as the Area Open record. He also broke a 17-18 State Record in the 50 Freestyle when he swam a 23.85.

Jordan Surhoff broke a 9 year old State Record in the 8&Under Girls 50 Breaststroke by over 2.5 seconds with a time of 45.03. She placed third in the 10&Unden Girls event and she also qualified for Eastern Long Course Zones. 

The North Baltimore 13-14 Boys 400 Medley Relay of Shaun Weinberg (BA), Kevin Spath (BR), Connor Wills (FLY), and Brian Scarlett (FR) broke the 17 year old 13-14 Boys State Area Record with a time of 4:25.85.

Courtney Kalisz Sets Three National Age Group Records 3/24 
NBAC swimmer sets marks in 200y back, 200y fly
Twelve-year-old Courtney Kalisz of the North Baltimore Aquatic Club set three National Age Group Records on Sunday at the Eastern Zone Region II Sectionals, held at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology in Sewell, N.J.

Kalisz swam 2:01.73 in the 200y backstroke in the preliminary session of the meet, breaking the previous mark of 2:03.19 by 1.46 seconds. The time also qualifies her for USA Swimming’s national championships.

Kalisz then swam 2:05.21 in the 200y butterfly in the preliminary session, breaking the previous mark of 2:06.27. In the finals, she lowered the standard to 2:03.29. Courtney is coached by Paul Yetter at NBAC's Harford County training site.

Courtney Kalisz Breaks Three State Records
Courtney Kalisz broke 3 state records this weekend at the Maryland All Star Meet and is now one of just two 11-12 swimmers to hold 5 Maryland Resident Records. Courtney started her meet off with a new resident record in the 1000 free with her time of 10:17.70.  She also set a new area & resident record in the 200 free (1:54.31) and 400 IM (4:23.42.) Her 400 IM, which was a personal best by 8.5 seconds,  makes her the fastest 11-12 year old girl in the country by 7 seconds!

NBAC-Harford at the Maryland All Star Meet
25 swimmers from the  NBAC Harford site competed at the Maryland All Star Meet last weekend. We had our highest best time percentage of all meets so far this year, including 20 new AAAA & Top 16 reportable times!

Congratulations to NBAC Harford swimmer Courtney Kalisz who broke a Maryland State Record at the ASC Senior Meet on January 31 - February 2, 2003. Courtney broke the 11 & 12 Girls 1650 Free Maryland record with a time of 17:05.14

NBAC Hatford at the Dynamo Eastern Classic
Courtney Kalisz lead the Harford County swimmers in a winning performance at the Eastern Classic Meet this past weekend in Atlanta, GA. Courtney won 6 events (200 free, 500 free, 100 back, 200 back, 200 IM & 400 IM) and was chosen as the Outstanding Female Swimmer of the Meet. Her 200 back time of 2:03.72 tied the NBAC 11-12 team record held by Beth Botsford and is currently the fastest time posted by an 11-12 in the U.S. this year. NBAC-Harford swimmer Allie Brown got second in the event with a time of 2:18.82. 

Harford County swimmers also dominated the 11-12 boys 400 IM. Nick Tomechko and Dave Carey went 1-2 in the event with times of 5:01.32 and 5:07.95 respectively. Patrick Sinko and Kevin Morlock backed up their teammates with 5th and 9th place finishes. 

15 of the 18 Harford County swimmers who attended the meet scored in at least one event. Courtney Kalisz and Caitlin Carter were 2 of just 11 NBAC swimmers who finished in the top 10 in all of their events.
