Michael Sabala comes to Baltimore from New York City where he was the Director of Competitive Swimming and Head Coach at The Berkeley Carroll School. In March, he finished his second season as an assistant coach with Columbia University Women's Swimming Team. Sabala graduated with honors from Harvard College in 2002 with a degree in Social Anthropology. He has completed graduated coursework in Biomechanics and Applied Anatomy at Teachers College-Columbia University. A four-year varsity letter winner at Harvard in swimming, Sabala was a three time Ivy League Team Champion and three time Eastern Conference Team Champion. He spent the summer of 2008 as a coach counselor at the Auburn Tigers Swim Camp in Alabama with six time Olympic team coach Richard Quick and at the Stanford University Swim Camp with Olympic Gold Medalist Lea Maurer and USA Olympic Team Head Coach Skip Kenney. In 2009, Sabala was head coach of Meadowbrook Tomatoes summer team and assisted with the NBAC Swim Camp.
